Our History

Our school was originally built in

1971, replaced an older building

on another site. This old school

was called Holy Trinity School.

As we have grown, more

classrooms have been added to

cope with the increasing number

of children in the area.

The Nursery is joined onto the main

building but has its own playground

and a separate entrance off the main

school entrance. It was opened in

1979 and has places for 60 children.

The children are aged 3 and 4 and

attend on a part-time basis.

The children move up to the

Reception classes in the term after

they are 5. The have a specially

adapted teaching zone within the

main school building. All of the

children in Nursery and Reception

follow the Early Years Foundation

Curriculum.

At the end of Reception children

move into Key Stage One and follow

the Primary National Curriculum.

Key Stage One includes Year One

and Year Two and we have three

classes in each of these year groups.

Each class has their own classroom in

either Area 3, Area 4 or Area 5.

At the end of Key Stage One the

children take their SATS tests

before moving on to Key Stage

Two at one of the local Junior

Schools. We run a transition

programme in the term before

the children move up and liaise

with the Junior staff to ensure

that every child makes a happy

and successful transition to the

next stage of learning.

The main school building houses

the offices, a staffroom, a Library,

a Hall which is used for PE and Dining

and our own Kitchen. Outside there

are two main playgrounds, a

Foundation Stage yard, a Nursery

playground and our new Eco garden.

The grounds are surrounded by

a metal fence with a controlled entry

system.
